We begin by meeting together to determine your needs. A memoir may be
of any length or style. I generally write in first person, present
tense because it is personable and carries a sense of immediacy,
placing my reader right there with me. But some people prefer past
tense because of the historical component.
Length is determined by what portions and how much of your history you
wish to highlight. Memoirs may be broken into chapters, each with a
title. Often titles delineate the distinct periods of your life.
Or you may choose to do a vignette style memoir. The vignette style
tells your story through a series of tales or anecdotes, usually with
accompanying photos which bring the stories to life. Photos add
considerably to any memoir--highlighting, enriching and adding
historical context.
